Vice President of Taxes and General Tax Counsel at Lockheed Martin
Urvi Doshi Sood is currently Vice President of Taxes and General Tax Counsel at Lockheed Martin Corporation. In this capacity, Urvi acts as the corporation’s Chief Tax Officer with responsibility for all tax matters worldwide, and she leads the corporate tax team of about 75 employees worldwide.
Urvi has responsibility for oversight and leadership of all tax matters affecting the Corporation. This includes tax consolidation and financial reporting; tax reporting for the Business Areas and Corporate Headquarters; tax planning; tax audits and controversies; international tax planning and compliance; state and local income, sales, use & property tax reporting and audits; tax systems; and tax legislation (in conjunction with Government Affairs).
Most recently, Ms. Sood was Vice President of Tax Administration and State and Local Tax (SALT). Prior to that, Urvi was Vice President of Tax Planning & Senior Tax Counsel. She led the tax teams responsible for the 2015 $9 billion acquisition of Sikorsky and the 2016 $5 billion Reverse Morris Trust transaction with Leidos. Ms. Sood joined Lockheed Martin in 2006 and previously held various other positions of increasing responsibility within the Lockheed Martin Tax Department.
Prior to joining Lockheed Martin, Ms. Sood served as a tax associate at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson in Washington, DC and New York, New York. Prior to law school, Ms. Sood worked as a financial analyst at the investment banking firm of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette in New York, New York.
In addition to earning her J.D. from New York University’s School of Law, Ms. Sood graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the Honors College at the University of Michigan with dual B.A. degrees in Economics and Political Science.
Ms. Sood is admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia and New York. Urvi is a member of the Executive Committee of the Financial Executives International Committee on Taxation and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Tax Committee. She is also on the board of, and serves as Treasurer for, The Tax Council. Urvi is currently vice chair on the board at Tax Council Policy Institute. Urvi is also a member of the GW/IRS Annual Institute on Taxation Advisory Board. She is a member of the American Bar Association and Tax Executives International.
Urvi is currently chair of the 2023 LM Women’s Impact Network Leadership Forum and Co-Chair of LM's worldwide WIN. Until April 2020, Ms. Sood served as co-chair for Lockheed Martin’s Professional Asian American Network, a group dedicated to enhancing and accelerating development of Lockheed Martin’s Asian American employees. In 2015, she was the co-chair of the Lockheed Martin Council for Asian American Leaders National Forum.
